When the Flaglers were in residence at Whitehall, they often enjoyed hosting guests in the Music Room including the Fortnightly Club, a local group that gathered to listen to speakers and musical performances, and to discuss current events. The Flagler Museum honored the social history of the Music Room by presenting Fortnightly, Reimagined, a special engagement featuring both professional musicians and music students from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts who specialize in organ performance. This year, musician Matthew Cates delighted guests with the sounds of Whitehall’s 1,249-pipe J.H. & C.S. Odell Co. organ, an instrument original to the home. Rachel Barton Pine performed exquisite violin pieces. A reception with the musicians followed the performance.

Support for this program is provided by The Randleigh Foundation Trust.
